Lennoxville, QC (thinking of moving there) Any advice?
HEY EVERYONE I would really appreciate ANY BIT OF ADVICE THAT YOU CAN HAVE THE PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE. HAVE A VERY YOUNG COUPLE (IM 21 N My Mans 27) with a newborn. My boyfriend is a new immigrant to Canada, we are both Anglophone NO KNOWLEDGE OF FRENCH. We think of trying to MIGRATE OUT From Toronto, Ontario (lived here all our lives) in Lennoxville QC.OR AREAS SURROUNDING THE BISHOPS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BRINGING NEW LIFE AND move. SO WHAT SHOULD KNOW ABOUT MOVING TO THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY? I DONT THE TRAVEL PLAN Until this time next year and wish to settle in the education of my THEN CONTINUE TO University there in September. WHAT QUESTIONS SHOULD I ensure that I covered. WE ARE CURRENTLY savings. Jobs? Areas that are in the City that rentals are available? Accessibility? Residency in Quebec? DO I NEED TO APPLY FOR THIS? Licenses? DO I "must" pull FRENCH. COST OF LIVING IT VS TORONTO? Everything that could PLEASE HELP U.S.
Because I used to live near there and it went to school near Bishops (Alexander Galt Regional High School), I can tell you that the Eastern Townships are a very nice and pleasant. Less expensive than Montreal or Toronto, there are still many opportunities and things to do in the area. Ski slopes too far, golf, fishing, canoeing, softball and college football teams. You want a car to be able to travel, transportation joint is limited. And you want to learn French if you come to Quebec. There is a large English presence in the Eastern Townships, but the French still the dominant language and you are more likely to experience poor living language, but everywhere in Montreal. You and he could take the French as a continuing education course, the night if necessary. Bishop's University, Champlain College, and Galt would probably offer all courses at affordable French. If you do plan to move there, my suggestion would be to find a job in the field before making the decision. Once you are employed there, Watch the lease for a year, then buying may be after that. It is not difficult to find cheap goods to buy in Ascot Corner, East Coaticook, Deauville, and other small towns. Larger cities such as Sherbrooke, Lennoxville, Rock Forest, and may be a little more expensive (but affordable) because many areas have been developed and the community is established in these areas. Lennoxville is a little over 2 hours from Montreal, one hour from the border American, and also close enough to travel to New Brunswick, if you have relatives to visit the Maritimes. Cost of livng is certainly less than Toronto, but selection may vary (for example, do not expect specialty coffee at every corner, but they have a large shopping mall Crossroads Townships for shopping. If I were you and plans to move there, my focus would be on finding a job in the field, then learn a little French, then decide on a suitable place to live. Also expect to have more snow and winter a little colder than you're accustomed to Toronto. You may want to find a place that has a fireplace for you to heat with if / when the current is cut especially with a young child in the house.
